Online challenges in Ring Reader

Looking for more incentive in your training, or want to strengthen your match mindset with extra challenges? With Ring Reader you create an online challenge for exactly that. Every participant shoots in their own training on their usual range, and one shared leaderboard collects the results.

A challenge is meant for competitions beside the official scoring: the youth squad’s Advent shoot, the duel with a befriended club, a family score across two clubs, or the training round that needs a winner.

How a challenge comes together

When you create one, you set discipline, shot count, time window and competition mode, plus a participant limit if you want one. Then you share the invite code, say in the WhatsApp group of the two clubs. Whoever joins picks a display name once.

The training diary handles the rest. Every series that matches the challenge settings counts automatically, whether it comes from a target scan or through one of the 22 import formats (Sport Quantum, Disag, Meyton, WM-Shot and others). All participants can watch the leaderboard live. When someone passes you, Ring Reader sends a push notification if you want it to, and as long as the window is open you can step up again. Your best result is the one that scores.

The four modes

The mode decides how you win. In the simplest case the best series counts, meaning the highest ring score within the window. Anyone after real match distance picks the match mode and combines several series into one result, say 3 × 20 shots.

For the king’s shoot there is best Teiler, where the deepest single shot decides. Target Teiler instead sets a value in advance, and whoever comes closest wins. In that format the youth squad occasionally beats the board.

What makes it into the scoring

Before a result reaches the leaderboard, Ring Reader checks it against the challenge settings. Series edited after the fact stay out. Target scans and machine imports count equally, and anyone who wants to keep a single result to themselves removes it from scoring with a switch. Everything beyond that you settle among yourselves, as with any shooting match.

Frequently asked questions

Does a challenge count as an official club championship?

No. As soon as federation scoring is involved, the sport regulations apply along with the equipment they prescribe on approved ranges. A challenge covers the informal side, from a club-internal shooting match to a duel within the family or among friends.

Does everyone have to shoot at the same range?

No. Ring Reader reads 22 formats, from the Meyton printout at the home club to the paper target in the basement. Everyone records where they train, and the leaderboard brings it all together.

How do results get into the scoring?

On their own. Participants record their series as usual, via target photo or import. Every result that matches the challenge settings flows in, and the best one shows on the leaderboard.

What about cheating?

Ring Reader excludes series that were edited afterwards, and every result has to fit the time window and the discipline. How strict you are beyond that is up to you.
