Import Results Plus
Besides scanning targets, you can also bring in results directly from other systems. The route depends on what you have in hand: the Capture page processes photos of printouts and screens, the Import page handles files (PDF, XML, JSON, CSV, WM-Shot), and the scanner on the Capture page reads Meyton QR codes. You’ll find the complete format overview in the chapter Supported Formats.
All import features are available with Plus and above. During the free 14-day trial you can try them without restriction.
Overview
Ring Reader imports results from these sources:
- Photos: Meyton printout, Meyton screen photo, Disag printout, Disag screen photo (Rückschau), Disag ShotsApp screenshots, Intarso printout, Proto-S printout, WM-Shot printout
- Files: WM-Shot (.wmk, also .mdb), Meyton PDF, Meyton XML, Meyton CSV, SETA PDF, Disag JSON, Sport Quantum CSV, ABVisie PDF
- QR code: Meyton (direct import via the scanner)
Which format provides which data (rings, Teiler, shot pattern) is shown in the comparison table in the chapter Supported Formats.
Importing photos: printouts, screens, screenshots
The workflow is the same for all photo types:
- Take a photo. Photograph the printout or screen with your phone or pick a photo from your gallery — via the regular “Add Photo” button on the Capture page, the same one as for target strips.
- Start processing. Tap “Process All”. Ring Reader detects the format automatically and starts server-side OCR processing.
- Track progress. A card on the Capture page shows the status: “Uploading…”, “Processing…” or “Import failed”.
- View results. The detected series appear in your history. Multiple series from one printout are grouped automatically.
If a photo can’t be classified unambiguously, the “What’s on this photo?” dialog opens, where you pick the format manually.
Photograph directly with the phone camera — downloaded images often have too low a resolution. Hold the phone parallel to the paper and avoid shadows. If the resolution is too low, the app shows a warning.
Meyton printout
Got a printed result sheet from a Meyton shooting range? Just photograph it — Ring Reader automatically recognizes that it’s a Meyton printout and reads it via OCR.
What gets imported: individual shot values, Teiler, point of impact (MPI), spread value, discipline, shooter name and date. Supported disciplines: LG, LP and KK — including Auflage (LGA, LPA, KKA). The shot positions are reconstructed from the direction arrows on the printout: the direction is exact, the distance is estimated from the ring score.
Meyton screen photo
You can photograph the Meyton scoring screen at the range directly. Screens that show only part of a match (e.g. shots 21–30 of 30) are automatically assigned to the correct series. Scoring screens with a Teiler column are supported as well.
Disag printout
Ring Reader automatically recognizes three Disag print formats: Statistik, OpticScore and the minimal result sheet. All three provide rings and Teiler — only the Statistik printout additionally contains shot coordinates, so each shot is shown at its actual position on the target.
Improve precision
For Disag Statistik printouts, Ring Reader offers the “Improve precision” feature when recognition was uncertain — right after import and later in your history. It re-processes the print with more precise cloud OCR and runs in the background: you can switch pages, and the results are synced as soon as they’re ready. Uncertain shots are flagged in the series for review.
If you confirm, the photo is processed by a cloud OCR service. The image is evaluated directly and not stored; your data is not used to train the AI.
Disag screen photo (Rückschau)
You can photograph the Disag screen (Rückschau) directly at the range — no printout needed. Photos of Disag tablets are recognized too. Multiple photos of the same match are automatically merged into one result. If detection is ambiguous, the format picker lets you set the format manually.
Disag ShotsApp screenshots
You import results from the Disag ShotsApp via screenshots: the overview plus the individual series screenshots. The overview works with both exported score cards and regular smartphone screenshots — long (scrolled) screenshots are processed as well.
Intarso printout
Printed result sheets from Intarso ranges (ESA2015 software) can be photographed the same way. Intarso is the only supported print format that prints full per-shot coordinates (X-pos, Y-pos, Teiler, angle) and a timestamp — the full shot pattern and the time between shots are available immediately after import.
What gets imported: individual shot values (with a plausibility check against the Teiler), exact shot positions, Teiler, angle, shot times, discipline and shooter name. Supported disciplines: air rifle 10m and air pistol 10m.
Proto-S printout
Photos of printed Proto-S result lists are recognized automatically. Rings and series are imported.
WM-Shot printout
Printed WM-Shot result lists can be photographed too — rings and series are imported. If you have access to the .wmk file, the file import is the better choice: it provides the full shot pattern and all Teiler.
Importing via QR code
The fastest route for Meyton results — no photo needed:
- Open the scanner. Tap “QR Code” on the Capture page.
- Scan the QR code. Point the camera at the QR code on the printout or on the range screen. It contains the link to the result PDF.
- Done. The series are imported directly and grouped automatically.
Meyton result links are only available for about 7 days — it’s best to scan the QR code soon after shooting.
Disag QR codes are not supported. Photograph the printout instead or use ShotsApp screenshots.
Sport Quantum: Scan the QR code with the regular phone camera, open the web export, download the CSV file and import it on the Import page (see below).
Importing files
For files (WM-Shot, PDF, XML, JSON, CSV), tap “Import” on the Capture page — this opens the Import page. Select the file there or enter a URL. The preview shows the competition name from the file and all series found; with the date fields “From” and “To” you narrow WM-Shot and Meyton results down to a time range.
Scanned or image-based PDFs (e.g. a photographed printout saved as a PDF) are automatically detected page by page and processed by the photo recognition — you don’t have to do anything differently.
WM-Shot file
WM-Shot files (.wmk, also .mdb) contain results from league matches and club shoots. Here’s how to import them:
- Select a file or enter a URL. You can upload a .wmk file directly from your device or enter the URL of a club server. Some servers are password-protected — in that case, enter the password.
- Enter your start number. Enter your start number so Ring Reader filters your results from the file.
- Check the preview. Ring Reader shows all the series it found, with total ring score, date and shot count. Series you’ve already imported are grayed out.
- Select series and import. Check the boxes for the series you want to bring in and tap “Import”.
WM-Shot files and Meyton PDFs can contain multiple shooters. Be sure to enter the correct start number so only your own results are shown.
Meyton PDF
Meyton shooting ranges generate PDF result lists. The process is similar:
- Upload the PDF or enter a URL. Choose the PDF file or enter the URL. Ring Reader reads the contents automatically.
- Enter your start number. Filter by your start number.
- Check series and import. Multi-part series (e.g. “1/4”, “2/4”) are marked with a blue badge and automatically combined into a group on import.
Meyton XML
The Meyton ShootMaster can also export results as an XML file (SDF export). Besides the ring values, these files contain the exact shot coordinates, Teiler values and tenth-ring decimal scoring — making the results more precise than a PDF import.
- Select the XML file. Choose the .xml file from your device. Ring Reader detects the Meyton format automatically and reads the file directly in the browser — no upload to a server needed.
- Check the preview. Ring Reader shows the series it contains, with decimal scoring and shot count. No start number is needed, since each XML file contains only one shooter.
- Select series and import. Choose the series you want and tap “Import”. Multi-part series are automatically combined into a group.
You’ll find the XML export in the Meyton software under “Result list” → “XML export”. If needed, ask your range operator whether an XML export is possible.
SETA PDF
Electronic SETA ranges generate result PDFs. Just upload the PDF file — multi-page PDFs are supported too. The position and time of every shot are imported automatically; processing runs in the background, and a progress card shows the status.
Meyton CSV
CSV exports from Meyton ranges are supported as well. They provide the full shot pattern with shot coordinates, Teiler and shot times — including decimal scoring. Ask your range official whether they can provide the export for you.
Disag JSON
The JSON export from the Disag system contains the full shot pattern with shot coordinates and Teiler. Ask your range official whether they can provide the export for you.
Sport Quantum CSV
Sport Quantum ranges show a QR code after shooting: scan it with the regular phone camera, open the web export and download the CSV file. Then import it on the Import page — the full shot pattern with Teiler and shot times is imported, and sighting series are separated in the process.
ABVisie PDF
PDF result lists from ABVisie Match Manager are supported. The ring values are imported.
What is the start number?
The start number is assigned at electronic shooting ranges. It identifies your firing point for the given training session or competition.
When importing WM-Shot or Meyton data, the start number filters the results so that only your series are shown. You can find your start number:
- On the printout at the range
- On the display of the electronic range
- From the range official or range supervisor
If you don’t know your start number, leave the field blank — all shooters will then be shown, and you can pick out your series manually.
Managing sources
If you regularly import from the same server, Ring Reader saves the source automatically. The next time you visit the Import page you’ll find it in the “Saved sources” dropdown. That way you don’t have to re-enter the URL, start number and password every time.
- Select a source: Tap the dropdown and choose a saved source. All fields are filled in automatically.
- Delete a source: Tap the trash icon next to the selected source and confirm with “Yes”.
- Add a new source: Choose “New file…” in the dropdown and enter the details. After a successful preview, the source is saved automatically.
Duplicates
Ring Reader recognizes series you’ve already imported by a fingerprint (date, ring score, shots). These are shown in gray in the preview and can’t be selected again — so no duplicate entries appear in your history.
The import feature is a good way to bring older competition results into Ring Reader after the fact. Just import the WM-Shot file, the Meyton PDF or XML from your last league match — and have all your results in one place.
