Competitions Plus
This feature requires Plus or Pro.
With competitions you can measure yourself against other shooters. Create your own challenges, join official monthly challenges and compare yourself on the leaderboard.
Overview
You reach the competitions page via the trophy icon in the navigation. There you’ll find:
- “Monthly Challenges”: Official competitions that change every month and are open to all participants.
- Monthly matches: Official match competitions that combine several series into one match — 3 series for supported (Auflage) disciplines, 4 series for standing.
- “My Challenges”: Challenges you’ve joined or created.
Use the “Active only” switch to hide finished and not-yet-started competitions, and the “Discipline” filter to show only competitions of a particular discipline.
Taking part in a competition
- Tap “Join” and enter the invite code you received — or open the link someone sent you, and Ring Reader opens the competition directly.
- Set a username if you don’t have one yet. Your name appears on the leaderboard.
- That’s it — just shoot as usual.
Your results count automatically in every competition you’ve joined. There’s no manual submitting; your best matching result is always the one scored. If a particular series shouldn’t count — say, a test shoot with someone else’s weapon — take it out of scoring: on the result page of every series (and, for matches, on the group page) you’ll find the “Do not submit to challenges” switch.
With Plus you can take part in one competition at a time, with Pro in up to ten (your own and joined ones combined). Official monthly challenges don’t count toward this limit.
Competition types
- “Best Series”: Whoever achieves the highest total score wins.
- “Best Deviation”: Whoever achieves the smallest Teiler (distance of the best shot to the target center) wins.
- “Best Match”: Several series are combined into one match; the highest match result wins.
Matches
Match competitions score series groups instead of individual series:
- Monthly matches combine 3 series (supported) or 4 series (standing) into one result.
- A matching series group counts automatically — just like individual series, there’s nothing extra to submit. The chapter Creating Groups shows how to create groups.
- With Pro you create your own match competitions with a freely chosen series count (2–10).
Leaderboard & results
- The leaderboard refreshes every 30 seconds.
- Your position is highlighted in blue.
- The top 3 are marked in gold, silver and bronze.
- All participants are visible — anyone without a result yet still appears in the list.
- Ties are decided by the next-best result; equal performances share the same rank.
- Each entry shows the date of the series and, on a tie, the deciding next-best result.
Tap your own submission to jump straight to the underlying series or match. Via “Share Results” you create a result card with your rank, shot pattern and result, and send it on.
Push notifications
Ring Reader can optionally notify you on rank changes — when you take 1st place, the podium changes or you drop back.
- After joining, the competition shows a prompt “Get notified when your rank changes?” — tap “Enable”.
- Alternatively, turn on “Push alerts for challenge rank changes” in Settings.
- On iPhone, push notifications only work with the app installed — see Install the App.
Creating your own competition (Pro)
- Tap “Create Challenge”.
- Give it a name, choose the type (Best Series, Best Deviation or Best Match) and the discipline.
- For a match competition, also set “Series per match” (2–10).
- Set a start and end date.
- Optional: limit the number of participants.
- After creating it, you receive an invite code that you can pass on to friends or club mates.
Inviting friends
- Open your competition and copy the “Invite Code” or the link.
- Share the code via WhatsApp, Telegram or directly at the club.
- Invited shooters can join with the code, even without a link.
Set the end date to the end of the month and share the invite code in your club group — whoever joins counts automatically from then on.
