For clubs: making competition results available to your members

After every match, your range produces result files. With WM-Shot it is a WMK file, with Meyton a PDF or XML file. Either the file is created and stored automatically, or it can be exported with one click. Inside sits the whole match or the season of all your members.

Often the files just stay on the club server, and some shooters never see their results at all. With a little preparation you make access easy and give your members a way to import and analyze every result of a match or a training evening digitally with a few clicks.

WM-Shot via link

WM-Shot is the standard for competitions in many clubs. The .wmk file contains every shooter in a match with their start number, name and result. Ring Reader reads it directly, including over a link. That is what the “Import from your club server” wizard on the Import page is for.

Here’s how to make it easy for your members:

1. Put the .wmk file at a reliably reachable location, most dependably as a direct download link on the club website.
2. Your members open the import wizard in Ring Reader, paste the link to the result file and enter their start number. Under “Advanced (optional)” they can store a password if the link is protected by one. Ring Reader saves the server. Next time it is listed under “Saved servers”, with the start number next to it.
3. After every update or every new match, shooters pick the saved server and import their new results. Series that were already imported are recognized and not imported again. Done.

One technical note that will save you questions. Ring Reader fetches the WM-Shot file directly in the member’s browser, and some cloud-share links block exactly that kind of fetch from another domain. If a cloud share won’t load for someone, that is almost always why. A direct download link on your club site works reliably.

Meyton PDF or XML via link

If you run a Meyton system, you know the printed result sheets. They exist for individual shooters and for the whole match. The matching PDF can be read in two ways:

• Via link: publish the link to the Meyton result list. Members paste it into the same “Import from your club server” wizard and filter by their start number. Unlike WM-Shot, Ring Reader fetches the Meyton PDF or XML server-side, so the cross-domain limitation above doesn’t apply here.
• Via QR code: you can have the range screen show a QR code with the link to the result PDF right after the relay. Members scan it with “QR Code” on the Capture page, no file involved. You have no extra work uploading the result file, and members have their result right at the firing point. It hardly gets better than that.

Meyton keeps the results for about seven days. If a result should stay available longer, download the PDF manually and offer the file for download yourself. Members then select it on the Import page.

Why it’s worth it for the club

You produce these files anyway. The extra effort stays small, and members get quite a bit out of it:

• More engagement: shooters who can see their season stick with it and come to training more often.
• Fewer requests: instead of sending results out one by one, there’s one source everyone can fetch themselves.
• No new tool: you only make the existing files reachable, and the routine at the range stays as it is.

Importing the results needs no Ring Reader Pro for your members, and that goes for files, photos and the QR code. Only the “Import from your club server” wizard, the link route, is Pro. Anyone who downloads the file manually and selects it on the Import page gets their results without Pro.
